Even if as few as one in 50 items is missed by the system, it can result in confusing and frustrating customer service problems.

FE Technologies’ Smart Bin provides the solution with its ability to read many library items simultaneously. This market-leading technology is based on a sophisticated algorithm that overcomes problems posed by the collision of multiple tags.

Working together with the Sort Assistant, the Smart Bin automatically changes an item’s security status from off to on and takes the item off the patron's file. It also keeps a local database of returned items, eliminating the need to access the library management system for each item. The device then conducts a final check to ensure a 100 per cent returns check in rate.
