Single Item Return Chute

FE Technologies' Single Item Return Chute is an internal chute that works with the Sort Assistant station to further enhance back office efficiency. With its V-shaped design, the chute slows down returns as they pass through, thereby maximising read accuracy while at the same time protecting items against damage.

Cost effective and simple to operate, the Single Item Return Chute automatically reads and checks in items and switches their security status from off to on. The device also conducts a secondary check to ensure each returned item is checked in. This gives the library a guaranteed 100 per cent check in rate and reduces customer service issues.

The Single Item Return Chute connects to the LMS via SIP2 and also has an offline mode. It keeps a local database of returned items, working with the Sort Assistant to streamline the sort process. At times when the system is offline, returns processing continues uninterrupted with the technology automatically uploading the information to the LMS when it is back online.

Easily installed into existing library architecture, the Single Item Return Chute drastically reduces customer service issues on non-returned items. It also decreases the manual handling of items and sorting times, freeing up valuable staff time.
